Gastronomical M&E is a small group of Northern Michigan bon vivants and (cook)book devotees that meets every six to eight weeks to share good food and good food writing. We select a feature cookbook well in advance of each meeting so that we’re able to spend time cooking and learning from it before we get together to create a meal using stand-out recipes from the book. Gastronomical M&E is as much about cookbooks as it is about cooking and members discuss the feature cookbooks as thoroughly as they would any other book club selection. Although space is limited by the size of our kitchen, registration for each Gastronomical M&E gathering is open to all.

Tell me more, please. Plan to be back up at the lake early to mid-May.

  2. What a wonderful site you have! I accidently discovered it searching for an image of Auguste Escoffier. I am a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier here in Charleston, SC. In fact some of our members have recipes in the book!

Could you please tell me where you found that characature of Escoffier and if it is in the public domaine? If not, where can we get permission if we would like to use it?

Every success with your group… and I hope you enjoy the LDEI cookbook! We all think it is terrific!

I invite you to take a look at my website,

I look forward to hearing from you!

  3. Hello,

I live in Petoskey and love the sound of your group. I am not an experienced cook in anything except homestyle dishes… I’d be a beginner in the group. Could you let me know if I would be able to attend, and if so how to sign up?

    Thank you!

I would like to know more about your group and if you have any space available. I just recently moved to Petoskey. I have always collected cookbooks and had to downsize my collection when I moved.
